Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku. My trip to Japan was mostly photography based. This location caught my eye when I saw it in a photo a few months before my trip so when I got to Harajuku, I completely ignored the crowded Takeshita street and made my
Misty Forest Hill top in Takayama. Takayama castle used to be on top of it until 1695 when the territory of Hida fell under direct jurisdiction of the Tokugawa Shogunate due in part to the region's well known woodworking. .

Dotonbori, Osaka. My day trip to Osaka was mostly wet and tiring from all the walking and rain. It's an interesting city but only spending a day there probably didn't do it justice. The food was good tho.

Zao Fox Village. Located about 3 hours north of Tokyo by Shinkansen, the Zao Kitsune Mura is a sanctuary in the mountains that was created for a bunch of foxes that were saved from the fur trade. They generally live a longer life than their counterpa
Hida-sannogu Hie Shrine, Takayama. This shrine is the inspiration behind the Miyamizu shrine in Kimi No Na Wa. Taking the not-as-traveled New Golden Route to Kyoto instead of taking the Tokaido Shinkansen there definitely spoiled Kyoto for me. The c
Pontocho alley, Kyoto. Pontocho is one of the old hanamichi districts ("flower towns") of Kyoto. Each district have their own lantern design. For Pontocho, it's twin birds. I was looking for dinner when I found this little place. The menu l
Koma River, Kyoto. The banks of the river is a popular dating and walking spot and runs between the Potoncho alley and Gion district. It's also one of my favorite spots in the old capital due to there having less tourists compared to other places in
Looking for Mitsuha. Hida-Furukawa Station. If you've watched Kimi No Na Wa, you might recognize this view from when Taki was looking for Mitsuha's town of Itomori. That being said, I really liked the quiet little town of Hida. .

Flying fish soup vending machine in Pontocho, Kyoto. Probably the weirdest vending machine that I found during my trip in Japan. I noticed that it wasn't displaying the normal cans and bottles. On more careful inspection, each bottle has an actual f

Kawazu Sakura. Had to balance myself on a couple of small rocks in the river to take this shot. I arrived in Kawazu during post full bloom season for their cherries but it was still pretty. I loved how the shadows of the trees created these lines of
Kyoto. Making my way to Kiyomizu, I decided to take a less crowded route through the Kenninji Temple grounds and came across this nice tree covered path. Saw these 2 old ladies coming down the path so I waited till they got to the natural skylight ri
Pizza Y at Savoy Tomato-to-cheese in Azabujuban, Tokyo. Made by pizzaiolo, @yuki.motokura . If you've watched Ugly Delicious on Netflix (and if you haven't, go watch it), you might recognize this from the first episode. It is a weird but delicious co
Yasaka-No-Tou Pagoda. Kyoto. Everyone's taking photos of the Pagoda, and it's impossible to get a clean photo with everyone in the way, so I focused on someone's phone instead. .

Sumiyoshisori Bridge, Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. I was in Osaka for about 14 hours. During that time I visited a kyudo equipment shop, Osaka Castle, Dotonbori, and this place. This was my favorite spot because it was the least touristy location. It's
Yasaka Kamimachi. While everyone was taking photos of the Yasaka-No-Tou Pagoda, I noticed this very industrial looking building nestled between the traditional buildings of Kiyomizu. An interesting contrast.
